Dedicated to many generations of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which was created in November 1918 as the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and is the highest scientific self-governing organization, the largest domestic center for scientific research. Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences have brought many world-class results of fundamental and applied research to the altar of scientific and technological progress. Its rich historical past and powerful scientific, scientific and technical potential allow it to be one of the leading scientific centers in the world and preserve academic traditions in the organization of scientific research.

The reverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Vladimir Vernadsky against the background of the building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, above which there are the inscriptions: NATIONAL/ ACADEMY OF SCIENCES/ UKRAINE; Below is a stylized number 100, with the years 1918 and 2018 inscribed at zero.
