Released on the occasion of the 190th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian poet T.G. Shevchenko (1814–1861) and was created based on his works.

On the obverse of the coin in the center there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine against the background of a towel with a holographic image of the ornament (on the left); to the right of the Coat of Arms is a mallow. At the top there is the inscription UKRAINE in a semicircle, at the bottom in three lines - 20 hryvnia 2004, as well as the designation of the metal and its fineness - Ag 925, fine weight - 62.2 and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Taras Shevchenko with a facsimile, on both sides of the portrait there is a composition reminiscent of wings, the heroes of the works are against the background of trees and in a semicircle there are inscriptions: at the top - OUR SOUL DOES NOT DIE, at the bottom - THE WILL DOES NOT DIE
