Dedicated to the Cossack chronicler, the author of a fundamental historical treatise covering the events of Ukrainian history in the mid-17th – early 18th centuries. Working on a chronicle full of national patriotism, statist views, and Cossack freedom-loving ideas, Samoilo Velichko (c. 1670 - after 1728) creatively and critically used many national and foreign historical sources, gave a deep explanation of the events and facts of the Koz.

On the obverse of the coin there are: at the top the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which the inscription UKRAINE is stylized; on a mirror background, a composition symbolizing the activity of the chronicler: a kalamar (inkwell), from which a sheet of paper with stylized inscriptions opens: CHRONICAL/SAMIYLA/VELICZKA/ 1720; below: the denomination of the coin is 10/HRIVEN and the year of minting of the coin is 2020.

On the reverse of the coin, on a matte background, there is a mirrored outline of a Cossack profile (the image of Samoil Wieliczka), against which a fragment of the Preface from the Wieliczka Chronicle is reproduced in Cossack cursive: THE INTERESTING/NOVAL HUMAN/ CAN’T BE ANYTHING/ WAY/ Y/ TO KNOW ABOUT/ LONG-ago HUMAN/ ACTIONS/ AND STUDENTS. and inscriptions: SAMILLO/VELICHKO (on the left against the background of the pen), years of life of the chronicler 1670/1728 (to the right of the outline).
