Dedicated to the monastery, founded in 1619 on a picturesque hill on the right bank of the Sula River near the village of Mgar, not far from the city of Lubny. Mgarsky Transfiguration Monastery has always played an important role in the spiritual life of Ukraine. An Orthodox church brotherhood was founded here, and thanks to its firm position in the fight against the expansion of the union on Ukrainian lands, the monastery quickly gained popularity and support among the Cossacks. The decoration of the monastery complex is the Transfiguration Cathedral - one of the outstanding examples of Ukrainian Baroque architecture, built at the end of the 17th century. at the expense of hetmans Ivan Samoilovich and Ivan Mazepa. The temple amazes with its stucco molding, which has an expressive floral character.
On the obverse of the coin there is: at the top - the small State Emblem of Ukraine, to the left of which is the inscription NATIONAL, to the right - BANK OF UKRAINE; on a mirror background there is a stylized composition: figures of a Cossack (left) and a monk (right), fragments of Baroque modeling (above and below); in the center the denomination is indicated - 10/HRIVEN and the year of minting of the coin is 2019.
On the reverse of the coin there is a panoramic composition of the ensemble of buildings of the monastery; inscriptions: MGARSKY SPASO-PREOBRAZHENSKY MONASTIR (at the top in the circle) and 400/LET (at the bottom); top left and bottom right – decorative baroque elements with floral patterns.
