Indiana, admitted to the Union on December 11, 1816, entitled the coin "Crossroads of America." The coin features an image of a race car superimposed on the outline of the state and 19 stars, signifying that the state was the 19th to be admitted into the Union. President William J. Clinton was in office when the law was signed into law. Three U.S. Mint directors served under President Clinton; David J. Rider of Idaho, Philip N. Diehl of Texas, and Jay W. Johnson of Wisconsin.
