A commemorative coin with a face value of 2 000 pesetas, dated 1996. Subject of the issue: 250th anniversary of the birth of Francisco Goya.

The coin is struck in silver of 925 fineness. It measures 33 mm in diameter, is 2 mm thick and weighs 18 g; the edge is plain. The coin was struck by the Royal Mint of Spain (FNMT) in Madrid.

The coin belongs to the peseta era: euro cash was introduced in Spain on 1 January 2002, with the peseta exchanged at 166.386 pesetas to the euro.
