The interior of the coin features the Queen Elizabeth Competition logo superimposed on the left profile of Queen Elizabeth, who founded the music competition in 1937. On the left is the mint mark (feather), on the right is the mint mark (the head of the Archangel Michael). In a semi-circle along the bottom edge of the interior is the inscription "QUEEN ELIZABETH COMPETITION" and the years "1937-2012", marking the 75th anniversary of the competition, are engraved along the top edge. The letters "BE" to the right of the image refer to the country of issue. The outer ring features the 12 stars of the European Union.
