Two kwacha used to be a banknote and is now a coin: the bimetallic 2 kwacha of 2024 belongs to the new «Heritage» family unveiled by the Bank of Zambia on 31 March 2025.
The new family consists of six banknotes and six coins — 5, 10 and 50 ngwee and 1, 2 and 5 kwacha. The 2 and 5 kwacha notes are gone: the central bank cited the rapid wear and tear of precisely these notes.
The reverse shows an antelope with «TWO KWACHA»; the obverse carries the national arms with supporters and the motto «ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION», which the bank cited when presenting the series. The centre and ring differ in the colour of their nickel and bronze plating, so the value is recognisable at a glance.
UNC grade: the coin never circulated, shows no wear and keeps its mint lustre. As the coin that replaced a banknote, it is the opening piece for a collection of the new series and for a set of African bimetallic coins.
A themed selection that includes this coin is easy to expand with other items from the VPcoins catalogue.
