A commemorative coin with a face value of 500 yen, dated 2013. Subject of the issue: Prefectures - Hiroshima.
The issue belongs to the 47 Prefectures programme, begun in 2008 for the 60th anniversary of the Local Autonomy Law and completed in 2016. Each prefecture received two coins, a bimetallic 500 yen and a silver 1000 yen.
The blank is composite: a cupronickel disc in a nickel-brass ring. Japanese coins are struck by the Japan Mint: the head plant in Osaka and branches in Saitama and Hiroshima. Japanese coins carry no mint mark.
