This note is built around the Great Silk Road and the ancient history of the Fergana Valley, and the theme runs across both sides. On the front, beneath the palace, lies an outline map of Uzbekistan crossed by light lines marking the caravan routes. Hold the note up to the light and the road appears once more: the watermark shows a camel, the emblem of the Silk Road, next to the figure 200000.
The back adds archaeological finds from the Fergana Valley: ceramic vessels and a two-headed snake talisman dating from the 2nd millennium BC. A single note thus places the merchants’ caravan road beside objects from a far older age.
Among the security features, look for the 4 mm blue micro-optic thread reading UZB, which produces a shifting effect, and for the words UZB 200000 SO’M, which glow red on a green pattern under ultraviolet light. Turquoise is the main colour of both sides. Catalogue reference PW93.
UNC: never circulated, free of folds and counting marks.
