The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been issuing the 200,000-sum note since 15 July 2022. Its subjects look back at the past of the Fergana Valley: a khan’s palace on one side and a settlement more than two thousand years old on the other.
The front shows the Palace of Khudoyar Khan in Kokand, with the coat of arms of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the upper right corner. The back shows the Akhsikent archaeological site, a settlement of the 3rd century BC that was the capital of the ancient state of Fergana. At the centre of the back is a pomegranate, a reminder of the celebrated Kuva pomegranate.
The pomegranate is more than a symbol: it carries the Spark Live security feature, changing colour and seeming to move as the note is tilted. Two more details can be checked without any equipment: green raised marks along the left and right edges of the front let partially sighted people identify the denomination by touch, and a hidden «UZ» image appears in the lower ornament at a certain angle to the light.
In an Uzbekistan collection this is a high denomination of the modern sum, and for an «architecture on banknotes» theme it pairs a khan’s residence with the ancient capital of the valley. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
More banknotes from this country and this era are waiting in the VPcoins catalogue.
