This commemorative medal of 2023 from the «Hero Cities of Ukraine» series is devoted to Chernihiv. This ancient city in the north was half-encircled and shelled in the spring of 2022, yet it held out. The honorary title of Hero City of Ukraine was established in March 2022 and conferred on places whose residents and defenders showed mass heroism in resisting the full-scale invasion. The series fixes these names in metal and is of interest both as a memorial piece and as a document of its time. The medal is in UNC condition.
