Dedicated to many generations of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which was created in November 1918 as the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and is the highest scientific self-governing organization, the largest domestic center for scientific research. Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences have brought many world-class results of fundamental and applied research to the altar of scientific and technological progress. Its rich historical past and powerful scientific, scientific and technical potential allow it to be one of the leading scientific centers in the world and preserve academic traditions in the organization of scientific research.
On the obverse of the coin there are: the small State Emblem of Ukraine (top left), under which is the inscription UKRAINE, at the top right is the denomination: 20/HRYVEN, in the center on a matte background the inscription: LAW/ UKRAINIAN/ STATE SCIENCES/ FOUNDATIONS/ KIEV/ APPROVED/ PAVLO SKOROPADSKY / NOVEMBER 14, 1918 M. Kyiv, under the facsimile inscriptions of P. Skoropadsky; below is an imprint of the seal of the Ukrainian state (the finishing element is local gilding), on both sides of which are the years 1918 and 2018.
On the reverse of the coin in the center there is a yellow building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (the decoration element is local gilding), above which is the inscription 100/years; in a circle there are portraits of the presidents of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with the signatures: VLADIMIR VERNADSKY (top), OREST LEVITSKY (right), NIKOLA VASYLENKO (left), VLADIMIR LIPSKY (left), DANILO ZABOLOTNY), ALEXANDER PALLADIN (bottom right), BORIS PATON ( bottom center); on a matte background at the bottom there is the inscription: NATIONAL/ ACADEMY OF SCIENCES/ UKRAINE.
