Dedicated to the artist, one of the founders of Suprematism, an outstanding theorist of avant-garde art, teacher - Kazimir Severinovich Malevich. A native of Kyiv, who received his initial art education at the Kyiv drawing school of M. Murashko, Kazimir Malevich became one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, taught at art schools in Moscow, Vitebsk, St. Petersburg, and Kyiv. His followers were Ukrainian and German constructivists, American minimalists, and French abstractionists.

On the obverse of the coin there are: at the top on a mirror background - the small State Emblem of Ukraine, to the right of which is the inscription UKRAINE, on a matte background - a stylized portrait of Kazimir Malevich, at the bottom of the inscription - 2 hryvnia/2019; on the left under the portrait is the logo of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank.

On the reverse of the coin, on a matte background, there is a stylized and textured depiction of an artistic canvas prepared for work, against the background of which there is the inscription KAZIMIR/MALEVICH at the bottom, and the years of life 1879/1935 at the bottom.
