Ukraine — 1 Hryvnia 2017 "Archangel Michael"

Commemorative coin dedicated to Archangel Michael — one of the most revered biblical figures, the heavenly warrior, conqueror of evil, and patron of those who fight for a just cause.

On the obverse: at the top — the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the inscription in a semicircle «НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ». In the center, on a mirrored background, in an elegant octagonal cartouche is placed the emblem of the National Bank of Ukraine: allegorical griffins guard the hryvnia — the ancient monetary-weight unit. Below the shield is the year of minting — 2017, and at the bottom in a semicircle — the denomination ONE HRYVNIA.

On the reverse, on a mirrored field, the majestic image of Archangel Michael is presented. Around the edge are engraved inspiring lines from Taras Shevchenko's poem "Haydamaky": «…FOR US AND THE SOULS OF THE RIGHTEOUS, AND THE POWER OF ARCHANGEL MICHAEL».
