A flag in a circle, the name KARAHANLILAR and the dates 940–1040: this coin is dedicated to the Kara-Khanid State and belongs to the 2015 Great Turkic States series.

The series of 16 coins of 1 kuruş mirrors the number of stars on the Turkish presidential standard: by a tradition accepted in the country, the 16 stars stand for 16 great Turkic states, from the Xiongnu to the Ottoman Empire. Each reverse shows the state’s flag, name and years, together with the inscription BÜYÜK TÜRK DEVLETLERİ.

Darphane put the series on sale on 25 January 2016; each coin has a mintage of 300,000, and 29,872 pieces of this coin were sold within the country. For a 1 kuruş denomination the coin is unusually large: 32 mm in diameter and 12 g.

For a collection this is the Kara-Khanid State slot in the 16-coin series. Uncirculated (UNC) condition means the coin has never been in circulation: there is no wear and the original mint lustre is intact.

Coins from the VPcoins catalogue are collected by seasoned numismatists and newcomers alike.
