An eternal flame, a stele carved with a star and the dates «1941-1945», and two fir trees on either side: this is how the Grigoriopol Memorial of Glory appears on the rouble issued by the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank on 3 May 2017, a week before Victory Day.

Above the image runs the inscription «MEMORIAL SLAVY» (Memorial of Glory), below it «g. GRIGORIOPOL». The obverse carries the state arms of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the bank’s name, the date «2017» and the denomination «1 RUBL».

This is the fourth coin of the «Memorials of Military Glory of Pridnestrovie» series: before it the bank had honoured the memorials of Tiraspol (2015), Rybnitsa and Bendery (2016), and the Kamenka coin followed three weeks later. The series is still running, with eleven roubles by 2026. Issuer catalogue number 10400-01-24004, mintage 50,000.

UNC condition: never circulated, no wear, mint lustre in place. A good piece for a collection of Second World War monuments on coins.

A coin from the VPcoins range makes a good starting point for a themed selection or a date run.
