Scales in front of the Thai constitution, resting on a two-tiered phan, a ceremonial offering tray: that is the symbol of Thailand’s State Audit Office, and it fills the reverse of this 20 baht. The coin marks the office’s 108th anniversary; it carries the date 18 September BE 2566 (2023) and was released on 25 December 2023.
The obverse shows King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Rama X, almost full face, with his full regnal title. Besides the emblem, the reverse has the legend «108 years of the State Audit Office», the anniversary date, the denomination and the country name.
The date on the coin points to the office’s foundation on 18 September 1915. Today its role is anchored in the constitution: the 1997 constitution laid the basis for state audit, and a 1999 organic act set up the collegial State Audit Commission.
The office marks more than round figures with coins: 20 baht pieces were issued for its 84th anniversary in 1999 and its centenary in 2015. The 108th anniversary issue continues that line, letting a collector bring together three jubilees of one institution, two under Rama IX and one under Rama X.
Uncirculated condition: no circulation, no wear, mint lustre intact, with only minor storage marks possible. The fine lines of the scales and the tiers of the phan are fully preserved.
