The 1993 50 halierov belongs to the first year of independent Slovakia and to the first version of this denomination: a light aluminium coin, it entered circulation on 30 June 1993.
The reverse shows the Renaissance polygonal tower with battlements of Devín Castle, which stands on a cliff above the confluence of the Morava and the Danube, with the denomination «50 h». The obverse carries the coat of arms of the Slovak Republic, the inscription «SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA» and the year. The design is by Drahomír Zobek, author of every Slovak koruna coin.
Aluminium 50 halierov coins were struck only from 1993 to 1995. In 1996 the denomination was redesigned as a smaller coin in copper-plated steel, so the white aluminium version remained a brief chapter in the koruna’s history.
Uncirculated (UNC) condition: the coin never circulated, the soft aluminium is free of wear and the mint lustre is preserved. For a Slovakia collection this is the opening date, without which a 50 halierov run is incomplete.
The VPcoins catalogue includes both modern commemorative issues and coins of past eras.
