The 1 dinar of 2010 belongs to a short transitional type: brass had already given way to steel, yet the coat of arms still wore the old crown that was replaced a year later.
Type KM# 48 was struck only in 2009 and 2010. Beneath the brass layer lies a steel core with a copper underlayer, so the coin looks almost identical to its brass predecessor but is attracted by a magnet. One side shows the building of the National Bank of Serbia and the value «ДИНАР • DINAR», the other the great coat of arms with the legends «РЕПУБЛИКА СРБИЈА» and «REPUBLIKA SRBIJA».
The crown with a curved base topped the arms on coins of 2005–2010; from 2011 the 1 dinar has carried the new version of the arms. That makes 2010 the final year of this design, and in a type collection the coin sits in its own slot between the brass dinar and the current steel one.
AU-UNC condition lies on the border between about uncirculated and uncirculated: at most a barely visible rub on the highest points of the relief, with the lustre almost fully preserved.
For those who collect coins by subject, whether wildlife, architecture, famous people or sport, the VPcoins catalogue offers other themed issues too.
