The 20-kopek type with the double-headed eagle and the value in a wreath was struck for almost half a century, though not without a break. After 1893 these twenty-kopek pieces vanished from production for several years and returned only in 1901, under Nicholas II. The 1907 coin belongs to that second, later run (Y# 22a).
The obverse shows the crowned double-headed eagle, its crown trimmed with fluttering ribbons, together with the letters ЭБ, the initials of the mintmaster responsible for the striking. The reverse carries a large numeral within a wreath beneath a crown, the word for kopeks in pre-reform spelling, the date and the С.П.Б. mark of the St Petersburg Mint.
The alloy is .500 silver, half silver by weight. For a date run of Nicholas II small silver, 1907 is a useful position precisely because of the ЭБ initials, which set it apart from neighbouring years struck under other mintmasters.
Condition F-VF: the coin saw long use and the eagle and wreath are softened, yet the value, the date and the initials remain clearly legible.
