The 1906 ten kopecks carries a design that stayed unchanged for almost half a century: the same eagle and wreath were struck on this denomination from 1867 to 1914, under Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II.
The obverse shows the crowned double-headed eagle with ribbons on the crown and the mintmaster’s initials; the reverse has a crown above the value «10 КОПѢЕКЪ» and the date within a wreath, with the letters «С.П.Б.». In 1906 the St Petersburg Mint issued about 17.5 million of these coins bearing the initials «ЭБ» of mintmaster Elikum Babayants.
In a date run of Nicholas II ten kopecks, it is the coin of the first Russian revolution of 1905–1907.
The G-VG grade means the relief is heavily smoothed by circulation, but the eagle’s silhouette, the value and the date remain readable. It is an affordable way to fill the year in a collection.
