The hundred baisa from the Central Bank of Oman issue dated 1977 belongs to the first decade of Sultan Qaboos's reign: the back shows Port Qaboos, named after the sultan.
The front carries the arms of Oman, a khanjar dagger over crossed swords, with Arabic text; the back is inscribed in English.
The signature on the note belongs to the chairman of the Central Bank of Oman, Tariq bin Taimur, uncle of Sultan Qaboos and the country's first prime minister. Decades later his son Haitham bin Tariq became Sultan of Oman himself in 2020, so this signature ties the note to the ruling family twice over.
For an Oman collection this is an early Central Bank note with Tariq bin Taimur's signature, and next to later issues, where Port Qaboos returned to the back of the 100 baisa, it shows the continuity of the design. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
You can compare this banknote with the country’s other issues in the VPcoins catalogue.
