Malawi — set of 3 coins 2018
A set of three standard circulating coins issued in 2018 by the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
All coins have the same obverse with the coat of arms of Malawi and the motto «UNITY AND FREEDOM».
Reverses of the coins:
- 1 kwacha coin. On the reverse is depicted an African fish eagle in flight.
- 5 kwacha coin. On the reverse is depicted a purple heron standing in water among vegetation.
- 10 kwacha coin. On the reverse is depicted an African elephant with a calf.
The set reflects the natural wealth of Malawi through images of characteristic animals: the fish eagle as a national symbol, the heron and the elephant. These coins continue the tradition of African states using local fauna on low-denomination currency.
