This Singapore 10 dollars of 1986 is the Year of the Tiger from the first series of Chinese almanac coins.
Singapore issued the first series of Chinese almanac coins from 1981: twelve years, twelve animals, each shown realistically. The coins are issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and struck by The Singapore Mint. They measure about 40 mm across and weigh 28 g, and the first series is struck in nickel.
The obverse shows the arms of Singapore with their supporters and the word Singapore in the country’s four official languages, with the year below. The mintage is 300,000.
For a collection by the Chinese calendar this is the Year of the Tiger, the year 1986. UNC condition means the coin has never circulated: there is no wear and the mint lustre is intact.
Coins from the VPcoins catalogue are collected by seasoned numismatists and newcomers alike.
