The Year of the Rat on a large 10 dollar coin of 1984: Singapore gave every year of the Chinese calendar a coin of its own.
The obverse shows the arms of Singapore with their supporters and the word Singapore in the country’s four official languages, with the year below. The mintage is 300,000.
Singapore issued the first series of Chinese almanac coins from 1981: twelve years, twelve animals, each shown realistically. The coins are issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and struck by The Singapore Mint. They measure about 40 mm across and weigh 28 g, and the first series is struck in nickel.
For a collection by the Chinese calendar this is the Year of the Rat, the year 1984. UNC condition means the coin has never circulated: there is no wear and the mint lustre is intact.
VPcoins helps you build coin collections by country, by year and by theme.
