This Singapore 10 dollars of 1983 is the Year of the Pig from the first series of Chinese almanac coins.
Singapore issued the first series of Chinese almanac coins from 1981: twelve years, twelve animals, each shown realistically. The coins are issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and struck by The Singapore Mint. They measure about 40 mm across and weigh 28 g, and the first series is struck in nickel.
The obverse shows the arms of Singapore with their supporters and the word Singapore in the country’s four official languages, with the year below. The mintage is 307,000.
For a collection by the Chinese calendar this is the Year of the Pig, the year 1983. UNC condition means the coin has never circulated: there is no wear and the mint lustre is intact.
VPcoins is an online shop for collectors, where a coin is chosen not at random but for a specific collection.
