The Horse opens the second half of the zodiac cycle and the third trio of San Marino’s «Lunar Calendar» series: the Horse, Goat and Monkey coins were released on 5 September 2024. Each of the twelve ten-euro coins is devoted to one sign, and the series ran from 2022 to 2025.

The reverse bears the horse, the Italian CAVALLO, the year, the value and the character wu, the seventh «earthly branch», which marks the Horse in the Chinese cycle. The red colour application, a signature feature of the series, nods to Chinese symbolism. The obverse, identical on all twelve coins, with three stylised towers and plumes, laurel and oak branches and the sun among clouds, is by Orietta Rossi.

The coin was struck by the Austrian Mint in Vienna in an edition of 20,000. In the Chinese calendar 2026 is the Year of the Horse, which makes the subject especially timely. Grade UNC: never circulated, the red colour and the relief free of wear.

The VPcoins catalogue features coins from many countries, making it easy to build a collection by geography or by subject.
