Transnistria 1 Rouble 2026 — M.V. Keldysh
This 1 rouble coin was issued in 2026 by the Transnistrian Republican Bank as part of the «Space Exploration» series. It is dedicated to the outstanding Soviet scientist, mathematician, and mechanician Mstislav Vsevolodovich Keldysh (1911–1978), regarded as one of the foremost theoretical minds behind Soviet cosmonautics.
The obverse features the state coat of arms of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The denomination «1 rouble» and the year «2026» are indicated at the bottom.
The reverse bears a portrait of M.V. Keldysh. To the left of the portrait are stylised mathematical formulae and space-themed motifs. The inscription «М.В. КЕЛДЫШ – ТЕОРЕТИК СОВЕТСКОЙ КОСМОНАВТИКИ» and the dates «1911–1978» run around the coin.
The coin honours Mstislav Keldysh’s contribution to the development of the rocket and space industry. He led many key projects, including the creation of the first artificial Earth satellites, crewed spacecraft missions, and interplanetary probes. In recognition of his exceptional achievements, Keldysh was given the title «Chief Theoretician of Cosmonautics».
The VPcoins catalogue includes both modern commemorative issues and coins of past eras.
