Half goat, half fish, rearing up: this is Capricorn on the 2026 5 euro coin from the Monnaie de Paris, drawn in the sign’s classic form, a goat whose hind legs give way to a fish’s tail.
Crystals, leaves and mushrooms surround the figure, standing for earth, Capricorn’s element. The background is a starry sky with the constellation, and the zodiac wheel is engraved on the gold-coloured ring; the Capricorn symbol in it is larger than the others and set on a matt sandblasted background.
The coin belongs to the «Astro» collection, created by general engraver Joaquin Jimenez and reissued by the Monnaie de Paris every year. The 2026 mintage stands at 50 000 per sign. Every coin has a card of its own.
UNC: the coin has never been in circulation and bears no wear. The mythical creature at its centre sets it apart among the signs of the series and suits a collection of fantastic beasts on coins as well.
At VPcoins we select coins for collectors of every level, from first steps in numismatics to filling the hardest gaps.
