The 1992 100 fils is Bahrain’s first bimetallic coin: that year the old copper-nickel denomination gave way to a two-tone piece with a copper-nickel centre in a brass ring.
The obverse bears the state coat of arms, the name «دولة البحرين» and «STATE OF BAHRAIN», and a double date, 1412 in the Hijri calendar and 1992 in the Gregorian. The reverse shows the numeral 100 and the word «فلس» in a rectangular box within a chain border, its final letter written in a stylised Arabic hand.
The type was struck until 2001, so it served under two rulers, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa and his son Hamad. The 1992 date opens the run and marks the moment Bahrain joined the countries issuing bimetallic coins.
F-VF condition: the coin has circulated and the high points show visible wear, yet the arms, legends and dates remain legible. An honest, well-travelled example for collectors who focus on types rather than mint lustre.
A themed selection that includes this coin is easy to expand with other items from the VPcoins catalogue.
