For 2024 the Perth Mint moved its kangaroo off the open bush and onto a working farm. Wade Robinson's reverse catches a big kangaroo poised to clear a dry creek bed, with a windmill and a water storage tank standing behind it. The Mint describes these as vital infrastructure on rural properties, so the design shows the kangaroo against working, rather than wild, Australia.
The Gold Kangaroo programme rests on a simple promise: a fresh artistic interpretation every year. Each date is therefore its own design rather than a repeat of the last. The 2024 coins add one more detail, the P125 mintmark celebrating the Perth Mint's 125th anniversary, and pair it with Dan Thorne's effigy of King Charles III on the obverse. Catalogued as KM# 4754, the piece is Australian legal tender with a face value of 15 dollars.
It is a tenth-ounce bullion coin in 99.99% fine gold with a maximum mintage of 200,000, supplied in a protective acrylic capsule. Uncirculated: the coin has never been in circulation.
