The portrait of Rainier III on the 1978 10 francs is the work of Georges Simon, who also designed the 1974 commemorative 10 francs for the prince’s 25th year on the throne.
The obverse shows the prince in profile with the legend «RAINIER III PRINCE DE MONACO» and the signature «G.SIMON»; the reverse, the arms of the principality with Rainier III’s monogram, the value «10 FRANCS» and the motto «DEO JUVANTE» (With God’s help).
The type was struck from 1975 to 1982. The dolphin on the coin is the mark of Émile Rousseau, chief engraver of the Paris Mint in 1974–1994.
In F-VF grade the coin has circulated, the high points of the relief are worn, and portrait and arms are legible. A place in a date run of Monaco 10 francs.
