The new 50 dirhams is devoted to sustainable development: clean energy and the careful use of natural resources. Bank Al-Maghrib put it into circulation at the end of July 2024, during the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of Mohammed VI’s accession; the date on the note is 2023, as on the whole new series.
The front shows, beside the king’s portrait and the coat of arms, a stylised Ouzoud Falls. The back shows where the country draws its energy and water from: the Noor solar plant in Ouarzazate, wind turbines and the Ouirgane dam. The note was created entirely, from concept to printing, by specialists of the national works Dar As-Sikkah.
For a Morocco collection it is one of the four notes of the new series, and for an «energy on banknotes» topical set it brings sun, wind and water together on one note. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
You can find companions for this banknote, by series or by year of issue, in the VPcoins catalogue.
