Bank Al-Maghrib issued the 25 dirhams — a denomination absent from Morocco’s regular range of 20, 50, 100 and 200 — in 2012 for the anniversary of its own printing works. The 25th anniversary was that of Dar As-Sikkah, the state works in Rabat that has printed Morocco’s banknotes since 1987.
The front bears a portrait of Mohammed VI and an anniversary inscription honouring Dar As-Sikkah, and the watermark also shows the king’s portrait.
This is not a souvenir but a circulating commemorative note: 4,200,000 pieces were issued in total.
A non-standard denomination and the anniversary of a printing works rather than a bank are an unusual occasion for a banknote, so the 25 dirhams holds a special place both in a Morocco collection and in a set of commemorative notes honouring those who print them. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
A collection can grow in any direction, and the VPcoins catalogue has options for each of them.
