The Ran Dhihafaheh series, «Golden 50», was issued for the fiftieth anniversary of Maldivian independence: it is the first entirely new family of Maldivian money in more than thirty years, and all its values are printed by De La Rue on Safeguard polymer.
The twenty's theme is «industrial and economic progress»: a fisherman carries skipjack and yellowfin tuna, a jet takes off from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport above him, a cowrie shell lies nearby, and islands and reefs seen from the air form the background. The back, turned vertically, is given entirely to a dhoni sailing boat.
The key feature of this issue is the rufiyaa sign: the currency symbol, officially unveiled by the MMA in July 2022, stands before the numeral of the value on both sides. This was the sign's first appearance on the twenty: the note dated 31 July 2025 and signed by governor Ahmed Munawar entered circulation on 17 February 2026.
For a Maldives collection this is a piece of the anniversary polymer series, and for «aviation» and «fishing» themes it puts an aircraft and a tuna on one sheet in its latest variety, the first twenty with the rufiyaa sign. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
