A home that a nomad could take apart and carry along: the yurt is the subject of the 1 som of 2018. The National Bank issued the coin under the title «Dwelling of the Kyrgyz: the yurt» in the series «Age of the Kyrgyz Khaganate», and on the reverse it is captioned in Kyrgyz, «БОЗ ҮЙ».

A yurt is a collapsible round wooden frame covered with felt and bound with ropes. Making one was traditionally shared between men and women: men produced the wooden frame and the metal, leather and bone fittings, while women made the felt covering and the interior furnishings, textiles and embroidery. The yurt hosted every major event of family life.

The reverse shows the yurt with the denomination below; the other side bears the coat of arms against a stylised yurt framework, the legend «УЛУУ КЫРГЫЗ КАГАНАТЫ» and the date. The mintage was 5,000.

The coin extends the khaganate series into everyday life and suits a selection on ethnography and vernacular architecture. UNC condition: never circulated, no signs of wear, full mint lustre.
