The 1,000-dollar note appeared in Jamaica in 2000, and its face became Michael Manley, the Prime Minister who led the government twice, in 1972–1980 and 1989–1992.
The back shows Jamaica House. This note is dated 2021: the BanknoteNews reference records dates of 2020 and 2021 for this type, while the next thousand, dated 2022, was already polymer.
In the polymer series released on 15 June 2023 the thousand went to Alexander Bustamante and Norman Manley, while Michael Manley moved to the new 2,000-dollar note alongside Edward Seaga. The paper 1,000 dollars has not been accepted in payments from 1 July 2025, but the Bank of Jamaica exchanges it at face value.
For a Jamaica collection this is the paper thousand from the last years before the polymer reform, and for a «politicians on banknotes» theme it offers the portrait of a Prime Minister who led the country twice. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
At VPcoins coins and banknotes are chosen both for collections and as gifts.
