A coin from a series devoted to the FIFA World Cup. Isle of Man football issues appeared for every World Cup from the 1980s onwards and remain one of the largest sporting themes in its coin programme. The Isle of Man is a self-governing British Crown Dependency in the Irish Sea. Its crowns are legal tender on the island but are not released into circulation: they are coins made for collectors from the outset, struck by the private British Pobjoy Mint. The obverse bears a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The issue exists in several varieties with different reverse designs, distinguished by Krause number.
