The Bank of Ghana issued this 50 cedis with a portrait of a young man in a hat with the dates 1983, 1984 and 1986; this note bears the date «15TH. JULY 1986», which according to Numista is the most common among collectors.
The front shows a young man in a straw hat and, at the top, a star with a fist, the motto «FOR THE NATION» and the words «GYE NYAME» («Except for God»), along with «Bank of GHANA», «FIFTY CEDIS», the date and the Governor’s signature.
The back shows a group of people with rakes and hoes on a cleared patch against tall stalks; according to Numista, they are drying grain. Around them are the legends «BANK OF GHANA» and «Fifty Cedis», large «50» numerals and a star.
The note was printed by De La Rue and has an eagle’s head above a star as its watermark; it is no longer legal tender. Together with the 100 cedis of the same year, it is a piece for a selection of 1980s Ghanaian notes of the second cedi. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
