Guernsey’s first 50 pence of 1969 bore the cap of the Duke of Normandy; from 1985 the seven-sided coin carried freesias instead. The 2012 coin continues this floral type.
Robert Elderton’s reverse shows a bunch of Guernsey freesias with the words «FIFTY PENCE» and a large «50»; the obverse bears Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Elizabeth II and a small Bailiwick coat of arms. The Krause catalogue lists the type as KM# 156, struck from 2003 to 2012.
For Britain and the Crown Dependencies, 2012 was the year of Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, sixty years on the throne. In a date run of Guernsey 50 pence this coin is the closing year of type KM# 156. Uncirculated condition: never circulated, free of wear, mint lustre preserved.
