A dragon on a Fijian banknote shows how the island nation marks the Chinese calendar: the Reserve Bank issued the 2023 100-cent note as a numismatic polymer note for the Year of the Dragon. The back shows the dragon, the sun and a tagaga, a canoe masthead.
The front shows a hibiscus flower, the Fiji coat of arms, the denomination and the governor's signature. Among the security features the bank lists a holographic foil strip and colour-shifting ink on the flower; the note is intended for sale on the domestic market.
It was released on 8 August 2023, exactly a year after the 88-cent note; together the two form Fiji's pair of numismatic «cent» issues.
The polymer dragon note completes the pair with the 2022 88 cents and fits two thematic sets at once: the Chinese zodiac and Oceania's polymer notes. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
A collection can grow in any direction, and the VPcoins catalogue has options for each of them.
