The 2005 Jersey pound is one of only four dates of the round pound with the schooner «Resolute» and Elizabeth II’s fourth portrait: coins of this type are dated 1998, 2003, 2005 and 2006.
The 2005 mintage was 200,000, the second largest after 1998. Robert Evans’s reverse shows the sailing schooner with «BAILIWICK OF JERSEY», «RESOLUTE 1877» and «ONE POUND»; the obverse carries Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of the Queen.
Sailing ships came to the Jersey pound in 1991, replacing the arms of the island’s twelve parishes that had appeared on the coin since 1983. The «Resolute» continued this maritime series devoted to Jersey’s 19th-century shipbuilding.
Grade AU-UNC: wear is absent or barely visible on the highest points of the sails and portrait, and most of the mint lustre is preserved.
The VPcoins catalogue features coins from many countries, making it easy to build a collection by geography or by subject.
