Barbados — 20 Dollars 2024 (2025)

Polymer banknote with a denomination of 20 dollars, introduced in the 2022 series (issue December 5, 2022), version dated 2024 with updated signatures (variant PW83b(2)/P-83b.2 or B242b). Printed on De La Rue’s SAFEGUARD® substrate, part of Barbados’ full transition to polymer.

The obverse features a portrait of The Right Excellent Samuel Jackman Prescod (1806–1871, son of a free colored woman and a wealthy landowner, one of 10 national heroes of Barbados, reformer and first black member of the legislative council) in the center. Barbados coat of arms and national symbols. Main color is purple with multicolor elements. Vertical orientation, inscriptions in English.

The reverse shows the Parliament Buildings of Barbados, motifs related to Prescod’s reforms and independence, and elements of national heritage. Multicolor printing with predominant purple, blue, and green tones. The design emphasizes the struggle for rights, national heroes, and modern history of Barbados.
