Barbados 100 dollars 2007

A 100 dollars banknote issued by the Central Bank of Barbados on May 1, 2007. Executed in red-violet and multicolored tones on a complex ornamental background. Printed by De La Rue. This banknote is presented in excellent UNC condition.

On the obverse is a portrait of Sir Grantley Adams, the first Prime Minister of Barbados. The design includes the coat of arms of Barbados, a trident and national symbols.

On the reverse is National Heroes Square (formerly Trafalgar Square) in Bridgetown with the monument to Lord Nelson and the Parliament building.

Sir Grantley Adams (1898–1971) was an outstanding Barbadian politician, leader of the independence movement and social reforms, the first Prime Minister of Barbados after receiving internal self-government in 1961. National Heroes Square in Bridgetown is the main public space of the capital, a symbol of the struggle for freedom and national unity.

The banknote reflects Barbados’ pride in its national heroes and key historical sites associated with the achievement of independence and the development of the country.
