A spike at the net, with the silhouette of a second player behind the attacker: on the 2024 «Volleyball» rouble the scene is built on two planes. The Transnistrian Republican Bank released the coin on 3 June 2024.

A stylised figure of the player striking the ball fills the centre of the reverse, with «ВОЛЕЙБОЛ» (Volleyball) below. The obverse shows the state emblem, «ПРИДНЕСТРОВСКИЙ РЕСПУБЛИКАНСКИЙ БАНК», the year «2024» and the value «1 РУБЛЬ».

Volleyball was invented in 1895 by the American instructor William G. Morgan, who first called it «mintonette»; it joined the Olympic programme in Tokyo in 1964. In the «Sport of Transnistria» series the volleyball coin followed «Futsal» by two weeks, in a mintage of 15,000.

Graded UNC: no traces of circulation, full mint lustre. For a collection of team ball sports it is a fresh 2024 entry.

A coin in a collection is a reason to learn more about history, and the VPcoins catalogue offers many such reasons.
