The Siamese left Asia early. The first documented Siamese in the United States reached President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1878, a cat named Siam sent to him from Bangkok.
Its signature is the points, a darker mask, ears, legs and tail against a pale body. The Cat Fanciers' Association recognises four classic colours: seal, chocolate, blue and lilac point.
This 2013 Fiji 2 dollars belongs to the Super Cat series, with a coloured portrait and the lettering SUPER CAT / SIAMESE on the reverse and the arms of Fiji on the obverse. The series brings together very different breeds, from the Siamese to the hairless Sphynx. The mintage is 5,000, each coin containing one ounce of .999 silver. It is struck in proof with a mirror field, and its 40 mm diameter matches that of the Sphynx from the same series.
