The padded cover is made of LEFA regenerated leather, which according to Leuchtturm contains 85% natural leather fibres. Each page has 9 clear strips of special plasticiser-free film, with double clear interleaves between the pages. The double-hinge binding holds pages of 230 × 305 mm. Black pages set off the stamps and make their perforations stand out.

Stamps are slid under the strips with tweezers rather than fingers, so the perforations are not creased and no marks are left on the gum or the design. The strips hold the stamp without fixing it, so stamps are easy to rearrange as the collection grows.

A stockbook works both for permanent storage and for sorting: stamps are arranged by country, theme or year, and new arrivals are first gathered on a separate page. How many stamps fit depends on their size: several standard-size stamps go on one strip.

Keep the stockbook upright, like a book on a shelf, in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heaters, so the pages do not sag and the stamps do not fade.
