The 500 ouguiya of 2013 is a compact successor to the 2004 note: the same theme of labour, but the format is reduced to 138 by 65 mm and the holographic patch on the front has been removed. The back shows harvesters in a field and a mining complex with conveyors.
The watermark was updated too: a light «500» was added to the elderly bearded man’s head. It is dated 28 November 2013, Independence Day, and was the last 500 of the old ouguiya before the 2018 redenomination.
The last 500 of the old ouguiya, it closes the denomination in a Mauritania collection and pairs naturally with the larger 2004 note. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
A banknote from the VPcoins catalogue is a gift that is interesting to examine and has a story worth telling.
