The grey ten of 2022 came about because the central bank decided to recolour a denomination it had already issued: the former blue was too close to the 2017 CRISP Evolution dollar. The Central Bank of The Bahamas released the updated denomination on 15 December 2022.
The design stayed: the front has an enhanced portrait of Sir Stafford Sands and a yellow elder flower, the back the Hope Town lighthouse on Abaco with flamingos, the very birds of the note’s nickname. What changed is hidden in the material: the note is printed on Landqart’s durable Durasafe substrate and carries Crane’s RAPID HD Detect thread.
The note completes the pair of colour versions together with the blue ten of 2016, and in a thematic set on birds or lighthouses it serves both themes at once. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
